NOTICE: West Nile Virus Detected in Shorewood

The Village of Shorewood was notified by the Will County Health Department that a positive test for West Nile Virus was detected in one of the traps they collected in Shorewood.

Public Health officials continue to highlight the importance of taking protective action. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) encourages the public to Fight the Bite by practicing the three “R’s” – reduce, repel, and report:

  • Reduce the number of mosquitos outside and get rid of containers that hold water
  • Repel mosquitos by using insect repellent
  • Report areas where water sits for more than a week

Clarke Abatement completed a mosquito spray on June 27th, and we will continue to coordinate with Clarke Abatement on a schedule for our 2nd spray of the season.
