Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement is responsible for enforcing building codes, zoning codes, and other municipal ordinances adopted for the safety, health, and well-being of the public. Enforcement Inspectors patrol residential and commercial zones, follow up on concerns from residents, homeowner associations, and area businesses, and identify code compliance issues to positively impact the property values and image of our community.

Building Permits and Inspections
The Village of Shorewood Building Department issues building permits and inspections to help ensure construction work complies with the minimum standards of safety in Shorewood established by the Municipal Code, Zoning Code, State Codes for Accessibility, Plumbing, Radon, and Energy Conservation, as well as the International Code Council (ICC) national codes for Residential and Commercial Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Fuel/Gas and Property Maintenance.

Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste Collection
The Village of Shorewood provides a comprehensive solid waste program through Waste Management designed to encourage recycling and waste reduction, reduce litter in our neighborhoods, and ensure that waste is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Garbage and Recycling are picked up every Tuesday. Please have all your refuse, recycling, and yard waste materials out for collection by 6:00 a.m. on that day.

Mosquito Abatement
The Village of Shorewood has contracted Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management, Inc. to provide surveillance, monitoring, and treatment services. Through surveillance and monitoring, Clarke can administer treatments based on their results.
Parks and Amenities
With 18 Parks situated on over 207 acres of land, the Village of Shorewood takes having fun very seriously! Whether you are looking for biking or running trails, softball diamonds, an 18-hole Disc Golf Course, playgrounds, or tennis courts, we have a park for you.

Parkway Tree Replacement Program
The Village provides a cost-sharing program for residential parkway tree replacement. The program was developed to assist the homeowners of Shorewood with the expense of replacing their parkway tree(s) when the tree(s) has been removed due to damage, insect infestation, disease, or death.
Funds available for the program vary annually with budget approval, are on a first come first serve basis, and will be approved based on funds remaining for the program.
Snow and Ice Removal
Shorewood Public Works Department is responsible for providing snow and ice control for the approximate 80 miles of roadways. There are 136 Cul-de-sacs, six Village-owned parking lots, and one community Park and Ride that are all encompassed in the area served.

Water and Sewer
The Village bills water, sewer, and refuse services every month. Inquiries regarding your water, sewer, and refuse bill, payment, or account should be directed to the Finance Department by calling (815) 207-4631 during the normal business hours 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Shorewood-Troy Public Library
Shorewood-Troy Public Library serves residents of the Village of Shorewood and Troy Township. The library is part of the Pinnacle Library Cooperative, which includes Fountaindale Public Library (Bolingbrook), Lemont Public Library, White Oak Library District (Romeoville, Crest Hill and Lockport), Plainfield Public Library and Joliet Public Library (Ottawa Street and Black Road locations). Patrons share a cooperative catalog and may place and receive holds from other libraries.
